READ & WRITE "TASK 10. Mitnick formula AND the overall security situation in Estonia

Today, I will try to analyze, situation with security in my home country - Estonia.

I will also provide Mitnick formula of "security rules" and based on that, compare them to our case.

MITNICK FORMULA IN SHORT

  • Technology: networks, firewalls, anti-viruses.
  • Training: awareness of different attacks.
  • Policy: set procedures and requirements.

  • By my opinion, Estonia is one of the strongest countries in Europe based on a cyber security, and the whole field of IT. As an example, of cyber field here, 80% of all our services (business, government and etc) hosted in the net. People here, even does not needed to go somewhere, to apply something, they can perform everything remotely ( such as -  apply for healthcare, job, for most of the government docs, and etc)

According to "principles" of Mitnick mentioned above, I would like to talk, not about business field, but about the government, and structures connected to that "government" field. Im sure, that the used technologies, such as network tools for security, firewalls, and anti-viruses is well secured. To "proof" that, we even have our own cybersec unit in army, which have, if Im not mistaken in about 1500 recruits. That much more than in other Europe countries.

About the training, I hope, that our cybersec colleges, are well familiar with new "trends" of attacks, how to prevent them, how to identify, that exactly this attack was, and what steps should be performed, to inform other low-level employees, to avoid them.

For my case, when I was working in a small Estonian company, there was some kind of little introduction, what we are allow to do,  what kind of third - party we should use, to encrypt, lets say our passwords, where to hide information, about specific project and etc. But again, it was a small Estonian company, where such rules, were not so important, and the resources they had, were not enough.

I also had experience with UK companies, the "security", "Policy", and "Trainings" were more in details than in previous example, and most of the systems, to encrypt, hide, and etc were developed by themselves. They, even ask you to attempt a small quiz about security, terms, policy which are related to their country and their systems.

In conclusion, Im 100% sure, that our cybersec field is really strong, but we all know, that there is not full secured system in the world, that can not be hacked, even in Estonia))
