READ & WRITE "TASK 4. Report Analysis"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today I would like to draw your attention to such a report, in which I will review the idea, examine the concept and, in general, leave my personal comment about the read.

MAIN IDEA

The accompanying review looks at the challenges to the global development of the information society and suggests one alternative for meeting these challenges: the model of the information society com bined with the welfare state. The review is an abridged and revised version of a report that discussed the future of the Finnish information society and which was prepared for the Finnish Parliament’s Committee for the Future. The original report focused on the challenges related to the reform of the “Finnish model”, a combination of the welfare society and the information society, which has ranked highly in international comparisons of information societies.

However, the main ideas that are presented in the report apply more universally: the global development of the information society has reached a phase that requires new actions from us all.

Thus, the main idea of that report and such events is to unite in one team, to solve global problems together, and makes our lives easier, and more right.

CONCEPT

Before I start, I want to inform all my readers, that I will try to analyze and compare concept from that report to my country - Estonia.

KEY CONCEPTS
  1. A creative economy
  2. A creative welfare society
  3. Humanly meaningful development
  4. A global culture

  • Main concept of creative economy is to enhance productivity through innovation: creativity will make it possible to increase added value and improve the efficiency of production.

  • Main concept of welfare society is the idea of the welfare state is that people have equal opportunities to realise their potential and are protected against the random misfortunes of life. This includes equal access to education, training and health care, etc.

  • Main concept of Humanly meaningful development is maintaining enthusiasm and motivation, and focusing more on employee job satisfaction and well-being at work.

  • Main concept of global culture is that we must progress towards joint development that is sustainable on a world scale. This requires greater open-mindedness from all nationalities.

Based on my opinion, Estonia moving in right way and already implemented some of the describe concepts. Estonia was the first country which implemented digital-infrastructure to government services, such structure is eesti.ee by logging in you can view your personal information, use e‑services and read messages sent by government. Estonia also have free education in any top 5 universities, free healthcare, and even special courses from unemployment insurance fund to improve your skills in your field. Based on my working experience in Estonian company, which developed software for industrial robots, their policy was pretty close to described concepts in report - really significant projects, bonuses, family environment, special system of encouragements and much more. Estonia is open for foreign students, and very welcome to them, she also appreciates foreign professors and enthusiast. Besides, I even heard, that Estonia is a silicon valley among European countries, we created global product such as "Transferwise, startup Taxify and etc."

PERSONAL COMMENT ABOUT THE REPORT

I discussed only 30% of the report, there is a lot to read and think about, I highly recommend to check it by yourself, pay your attention on different global models and graphs, they are worth it :)

I will definitely read once again that report, to understand deeper and take some notes.
